About Warren Nelson
I'm a multiskilled technician and engineering student with a background spanning plumbing, fabrication, CNC manufacturing, and small-business ownership. I'm driven by the intersection of physical systems and digital automation — building things that work reliably in the real world.
The Long Version
I didn't come up through a traditional engineering path. I started in the trades, ran a business, self-taught CNC on a 30-year-old machine with nothing but internet access, and have spent the last several years working across manufacturing, automation, and field service.
What ties all of it together is a compulsion to understand how things actually work — and to fix them when they don't. That's gotten me deep into mechanical systems, control logic, scripting, and more recently, AI agent infrastructure.
I'm currently working as a field service technician for LVD industrial machinery while completing an Associate Degree in Engineering at UniSA. The goal is to grow into automation consulting — sitting at the junction of industrial systems and software.
I see the AI/automation convergence coming and I want to be useful on the right side of it. Not just using the tools — building with them.
Career Timeline
Plumbing Apprenticeship
Started in the trades — learned the discipline of working with your hands, reading plans, and delivering on-site. The foundations of practical problem-solving.
Tattoo Studio Owner
Bought into and ran a tattoo studio. Managed staff, handled all marketing, SEO, and blog content myself. Grew reviews organically. Eventually walked away to chase the next thing.
CNC Self-Education
Reverse-engineered a 30-year-old CNC machine using nothing but Google and YouTube — pre-AI era. That project broke something open. Started operating lasers, engravers, and CNC mills across multiple shops.
CNC Machine Builder
Worked at a small CNC manufacturer building machines from the ground up. Deepened hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems, motion control, and production workflows.
Field Service Technician – LVD
Field service tech for LVD branded machinery tools — industrial press brakes and laser cutters. Client-facing, site-based, hands-on systems work across a range of industries.
Engineering Degree + Certs
Associate Degree in Engineering at UniSA, stacking external certifications alongside. Building the formal framework around years of practical experience.
